Tie That Binds Barn Wedding Part V

Here comes our forte: the details! As mentioned by the bride, she was so open-minded to our ideas that we had no problem expressing our true creativity. See how you think the details brought the reception together.

THE DETAILS

From the bride:
When the time came to create wedding invitations and paper details, I was unaware of the vast amount of choices for fonts, paper, designs and styles. I knew I wanted a rustic theme with hydrangeas and a simple font that reflected mine and my husband’s laid-back personalities. The first custom proof sent from Mekala at Tie That Binds was exactly what I had in mind. She also created our monogram that was beautiful but still fun, so we incorporated it into our invitations, envelopes, and even a table runner that we had at the wedding. To keep everything congruent, she designed adorable signage throughout the reception, cookie bags with stickers, whoopie pie bags as favors, photo booth details, and table numbers. She also styled the tablescapes at the reception with sewing-pattern paper flowers, papier-mâché details, and brought chalkboards, bunting, escort cards with miniature cowbells, and other antique details to complete the style we dreamed of. The products that she had to offer and the details that she brought to the wedding were unlike anything I could have dreamed of, and the guests went on and on about the meticulous attention to the little things.

Tie That Binds Barn Wedding Part IV

As many would say, the reception is the best part! The reception that follows is STUFFED FULL of details created by Tie That Binds! But before moving along to those, check out these endearing and incredible moments caputured by Bryan Aulick.

THE RECEPTION

From the bride:
At the end of the day, we felt like we had thoroughly enjoyed the best day of our lives. While the wedding was classy, it was also casual and allowed us and the guests to kick back and enjoy just being together. They dressed comfortably, in true Eastern Oregon style, and enjoyed our homemade food and beverages without feeling restricted by a formal event. The intimate setting of the barn gave everyone a front seat view of the ceremony and the reception was filled with lively entertainment and dancing late into the night. We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day, and owe it all to our willing friends and family, and the fantastic vendors that made it all happen.

Tie That Binds Barn Wedding Part III

Moving right along to the main event: THE WEDDING! Of course it goes without saying that the brides choice of dress and bridal party attire was beyond tasteful, see her concept behind the bridal party after the jump.

THE WEDDING & BRIDAL PARTY

From the bride:
When I was looking for a dress, the only detail I knew I wanted for sure was lace. The mermaid style was helpful in hugging all the right areas to create a curvy feminine figure on what was otherwise a more square body type. The weight was comfortable and the design was easy to alter so that I was not pulling it up throughout the day. I ran, danced, and stood for hours in my dress during pictures and still remained comfortable.
The best thing I did to make decisions about wedding attire was to look at pictures of other bridal parties. It helped me see what types of colors and dresses looked good together. I had seen pictures where bridesmaids wore unique styles of dresses. Since I was aiming for a more casual, country look, I let the brides find their own dresses. I asked them to looked for cotton and light fabric dresses rather than the dressier chiffon look, and find shades of ivory. I also knew I wanted the girls to wear cowboy boots, so they found whatever boots they preferred to bring the look together. I loved how their different tastes were varied, but still congruent with the overall feeling of the wedding.

Tie That Binds Barn Wedding Part II

We’re continuing our largest wedding feature by moving on to the venue! As described by the bride, the barn had a lot of work to be done, but family and friends came together to make it happen. See her comments after the photos.

THE BARN

From the bride: Aside from the decor, the barn itself needed a TON of work to get it in shape for the wedding. We had chosen an area in a grassy meadow and mowed it down with hours of help from the groomsmen. Our family organized a “clean-up day” with the barn owner and spent the day sweeping, vacuuming, sweeping and more vacuuming to rid of the hay and dust. For weeks before and on the day of the wedding, family, friends, friends of friends, and the wedding party devoted their time to decorating the barn and setting up the ceremony indoors after unexpected rain. The meadow was a beautiful place that we wish we could’ve used, but the barn atmosphere was so cozy, it only added to the wonderful time we all had together.

Tie That Binds Barn Wedding ~ on Wedding Chicks!

We are SO excited to be going up on Wedding Chicks later today! Not only are they a HOT blog, they’re featuring one our proudest weddings, held last June in Joseph, Oregon. You can see the Wedding Chicks feature here, so be sure to leave a comment!
We’re going to show the wedding in stages today, starting with the beautiful couple’s pre-wedding shoot! Shot by the incredible Bryan Aulick, we’re positive you’ll be swooning over his incredible talent in no time.

THE COUPLE

From the bride: Choosing a venue was the first step we approached in planning our wedding. We wanted an outdoorsy area with a rustic building that would naturally add to the décor of the wedding. My parents, in-laws and fiancé stumbled across private property named “The Rockin’ HK Ranch” at the end of a very long unsuccessful day. Owned by a farmer who would graciously allow us to use it free of charge, it was a working barn with hay bales, goats and barn cats dominating the area. We knew we had our work cut out for us! The barn owner was incredibly helpful in preparing the barn with the help of our family, and was patient and flexible in allowing us to set up the area for the wedding.
The most special moment of my wedding day was the first time that I saw my soon-to-be husband before the wedding. It was an opportunity for us to get out all of pre-wedding jitters and spend intimate time together before we were engulfed by family and friends. Our photographer Bryan Aulick, who agreed to meet us before the wedding to capture the entire day, was absolutely amazing. He made us feel relaxed and comfortable. My husband and I are never thrilled to be in front of the camera, but with Bryan’s creativity and the “challenges” that he put us up to, we were laughing a majority of the time and the pictures turned beautifully. During the intimate moment that I would see my soon-to-be husband for the first time, Bryan remained in the shadows where we didn’t even notice him, but captured all the emotion and joy that we felt. He truly added to the enjoyment of the day, and the wedding wouldn’t have been complete with him and his profound kindness, patience, and incredible talent.
